Blessed To Be Busy

Here goes nothing...I am super excited to start this new blog and share my journey as the 2013 National American Miss Upstate New York Pre-Teen Queen! I will be referring to National American Miss as "NAM" a lot throughout my blog posts. I have been so busy since my crowning mid-August, but it has been so rewarding and such a blessing! To be perfectly honest, it took a while for the reality of winning to set in and to come down from my cloud of utter happiness and get back to the business of representing my title and preparing for my upcoming National competition. After sending out my press release, my first priority was getting to work expanding my Wayland-Cohocton Students for Soldiers program. This is a program I created last school year for my class. I obtained all of the addresses of current soldiers from our area serving overseas from my affiliation with the Wayland American Legion Auxiliary and Blue Star Mothers. Then I encouraged my fellow classmates to write letters and donate goods to send in care packages during homebase. I recently attended an Auxiliary meeting to start work towards growing the program to all service members both home and abroad and to involve the entire school, not just my class. My next step will be to meet with school officials with my proposal. In the meantime, I have participated in the Buffalo, NY "Walk To End Alzheimers" with my NAM friend Liza Cotter, her mom Eileen, sister Mary and my mom. It was cold and rainy, but we made the best of it! The next weekend, I participated in a walk to benefit our local hospice providers, the Vincent House with my fellow students from the Wayland National Junior Honor Society. I had fun providing face painting to the kids who attended! Next, I was asked to appear in some Cohocton Fall Foliage festivities. I was asked help with the Cohocton Fall Foliage Prince & Princess contest. It was so much fun and brought back great memories from when I won this cute little contest back in 2006. I was also able to make an appearance in the festival parade, I love riding in the back of my Papa Butch's big red beautiful truck! It was great to get out in my community and realize all of the love and support I have. There were so many people congratulating me and wishing me luck at Nationals. The next few weeks are just as busy with some more charity work and appearances. I look forward to keeping you posted through it all. Thank you for visiting my blog!
